March 07 O_OI've made some confusing and some odd pizzas since starting my new job.
But this one really got me in a 'what sort of person orders like this??' face...
A pizza that was on the menu... But it had to have two pieces... two PIECES with just ham.
No other ingredients.. Just ham.
For those that haven't yet gone 'how is that odd?'... Pizzas don't come pre-sliced.
(I've hung it on my wall next to my Sweeney Todd poster as proof of human oddity.) December 28 Man Man - Six Demon Bag review.Since this is the first Music Review, I'm going to set format. First, track by track review, then album-as-a-whole.
Feathers
- A good, slow-building opening track, that tells of the energetic style of the rest of the album to come. A little short, but
because of the slow nature of the song, it doesn't seem that noticable.
Engrish Bwudd
- References "Jack and the beanstalk" in it's lyrics. Has a great fast-paced, rough energetic mix of instruments that come together
really cleaning and catchingly.
Skin Tension
- Another somewhat slow song, with not so much energetic, rough cheer. Somewhat depressing, as it deals with lonliness and heartache.
Hot Bat
- Starts off without a slow build-up, and repeats till the end, basically. More a filler track then a real song, but still great. Second favourite track.
Spider Cider
- For some reason, this song leaves me a little cold, despite sounding like the rest of the album. It has the same energy in it, but doesn't seem to blend
the instruments as well.
Tunnelling Through The Guy
- Possibly my favourite song on the album, as it tries to mix in some other instruments and changes style effectively. Love the harsher (compared to the songs) sound of the voices, against the lilting nature of the lyrics.
Ice Dogs
- Another heartache-y song. The energy of it seems to run against the nature of the lyrics though. Changes to sound almost like a musical around halfway through, but still sounds distinctly like Man Man.
Album as a whole
- Has a great, rough energy and general happiness running through it, for the most part.
Would probably be great at a party or when among friends who appreciate music of a somewhat experimental nature. November 23 Bah Humbug4 hours of chipping away at it in total... and I finally got the damn thing to work.
It seemed so damn simple when I figured it out.
